Ruth Langsford gives defiant divorce update as she responds to criticism | Celebrity News | Entertainment & TV

Ruth Langsford has hit back at critics who questioned why she is still wearing her wedding ring months after her split from Eamonn Holmes was announced.

The Loose Women presenter, 64, took to Instagram on Sunday to share a video of herself preparing her meals for the week ahead.

Ruth made a healthy green juice, containing spinach, apple, cucumber, ginger, mint and lime juice, but some fans were distracted by the diamonds on her left hand.

A user named Sam commented on the video: “Why is she still wearing her wedding ring?” While Em echoed: “Why are you still wearing your wedding ring?”

In a rare comment on her split from Eamonn, Ruth defiantly replied: “Because I’m still married.”

Ruth and Eamonn announced their divorce in a joint statement released in May. A spokesperson said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed that their marriage is over and that they are in the process of divorcing.”

The former This Morning presenters were married for 14 years and were in a relationship for 22 years. They have one son together, Jack, who was born in 2002.

Ruth has not spoken publicly about the split, but Eamonn took time out on his GB News show to thank fans for their support shortly after the statement was released.

The 64-year-old actor said: “Before we continue, we would like to thank people for the support they have shown Ruth and I over the last few days following the news of our separation. We very much appreciate their support for both of us.”

It was reported at the time that the presenters had been “living separate lives” for two years after their marriage deteriorated following their exit from This Morning.

Eamonn has reportedly moved on with his relationship with 42-year-old relationship therapist Katie Alexander. The pair are said to be “committed for the long haul” and “considering” going public with their relationship.

Katie’s ex-husband has expressed his condolences to Ruth. Speaking to The Sun, he admitted he was “heartbroken” when her second marriage came to an end and added that it took her years to “recover”.

Eamonn previously shared that he hoped he could remain friends with Ruth despite their split, but added that it was “too early” to tell.
