Madelaine Petsch to star opposite Jacob Scipio in romantic comedy ‘Maintenance Required’

EXCLUSIVE:Madelaine Petsch (The Strangers: Chapter 1) will executive produce and star in Maintenance requireda new romantic comedy for Future Artists Entertainment, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios. Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys: Run or Die) is also set.

Currently in production, the film follows Charlie (Petsch), who is forced to reconsider the viability of her beloved, all-female auto shop. While searching for contacts on an online car forum, little does she know that her confidant, Beau (Scipio), is in fact her real-life business rival.

Luber Roklin and Future Artists developed the script for Amazon, with first-time director Lacey Uhlemeyer at the helm. Writer Erin Falconer (How to break up with your friends) wrote the script with Uhlemeyer, Roo Berry and Luke Roberts. Matt Williams of Future Artists Entertainment will produce alongside Lena Roklin and Matt Luber of Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Petsch will executive produce.

In a statement to Deadline, Future Artists’ Williams said: “We are thrilled to be working with Amazon MGM Studios on Maintenance required“This project combines the charm and wit of a classic romance with the exciting world of car culture. It’s fantastic to see Madelaine behind the wheel, driving the story forward alongside our fantastic lead, Jacob Scipio.”

Petsch is coming off a success with The Strangers: Chapter 1the first installment of a new Lionsgate horror trilogy, which grossed more than $47 million worldwide. She also served as an executive producer on the film, which is based on Bryan Bertino’s popular 2008 horror film. The Strangersand is also best known for starring in The CW series Riverdalewhich lasted seven seasons.

Most recently, he reprised his role as Armando, the estranged son of Detective Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) in the Sony film. Bad Boys: Run or Diewhich grossed over $403 million worldwide, Scipio’s other film credits include The Expendables 4 alongside Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Without regrets against Michael B. Jordan, and The outpost by Rod Lurie.
