New water pipe break discovered in McGregor

McGREGOR, Iowa (KCRG) – The city of McGregor says a contractor has told the city they have found another break in the water main.

The city says the water main break is in front of St. Mary Catholic Church and is impacting residents, businesses and entities in the area from the Catholic church to the care center on Garnavillo Ave, Buell Ave, Tanglewood Drive, W Spring Street and the 700 block of Ann Street.

Affected residents and businesses are currently without water.

MFL MarMac Schools says the water supply has been shut off at the McGregor Center. Classes will continue and the status is planned to be reassessed at 10:00 a.m.

The city says crews are working to fix the problem.

This is at least the third water main break in McGregor in the past two weeks. A water main break earlier this week forced MFL MarMac Schools to release students early.
