Hunter dies after shooting himself in the leg at a state park, authorities say

LAINGSBURG, Mich. (WILX/Gray News) – Michigan police responded to Sleepy Hollow State Park early Wednesday morning for a report of a shooting.

Clinton County authorities responded to a call of a 42-year-old hunter from St. Johns who accidentally shot himself in the leg shortly before 7 a.m.

Officers used GPS information from the hunter’s 911 call to locate the man. However, the man had already died from his injuries, according to authorities.

The name of the hunter has not yet been revealed.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
